Eligibility and Speaker Times
Teams must have a minimum of four members and a maximum of five members in all grades.The age and education restrictions for each grade are as follows;
Grade 7 Under 14 years Year 7 or below
Grade 6 Under 13 years Year 6 or below
Grade 5 Under 12 years Year 5 or below
All speeches for the JRR Competition are 4 minutes

Debates are scheduled to commence at 6:15 pm , 7:00 pm and 7:45 pm.
The exact time of all debates is set out in the competition draw.
Postponement Dates
To make things a little easier we have dedicated TWO Postponement dates in the calendar, which will be the first dates considered after a postponement is granted by the QDU under the QDU Rules and communicated in writing to both schools involved.
The two dates selected are:

Failing the utilisation of these two dates, the QDU's default position is to try an place postponed debates on "other" debating nights
(e.g. Year 7 postponements to be on nights and at venues where we have Years 5 and 6 debating)
Fee Structure and Fines
Competition Fees
Team Nomination Fees - First two teams in each year group - per team
Year 7 $ 120.00 + GST = $ 132.00
Year 6 $ 120.00 + GST = $ 132.00
Year 5 $ 120.00 + GST = $ 132.00
3rd team in each year group $ 140.00 + GST = $154.00
4th team in each year group $ 160.00 + GST = $176.00
5th team in each year group $ 180.00 + GST = $198.00
continue to add $20.00 + GST for each additional team entered in each age group
Fines
(No GST is payable on any fines and/or penalties imposed as per ATO ruling GSTD2005/6)
Team withdrawal after nomination - $150.00
Forfeit Fines
Forfeit notified to QDU in writing prior to 5.00 pm the day before a scheduled debate - $ 50.00
Forfeit notified to QDU in writing after 5.00 pm the day before a scheduled debate or NO SHOW - $ 100.00
Postponement Penalties
Any postponement notified to the QDU in writing more than two weeks prior to Round 1 of the competition - no charge
More than one month prior to the scheduled debate (but not meeting the above requirement) - $ 25.00
More than two weeks written notice but less than one month prior to the scheduled debate - $ 40.00
Note:
Schools requesting a postponement will only be charged the appropriate fee If and when the request is granted by the QDU Schools VP in all cases. If the postponement request is denied, then failure to debate will result in the relevant forfeit fine being applied. An exceptional circumstances waiver will still apply as per QDU rules.
