Brisbane Summer School
Sunday, 15 February 2015
Brisbane Grammar School
Gregory Terrace, Spring Hill
10.00am to 3.00pm
Each year the Queensland Debating Union convenes Debating Summer Schools to assist debaters in developing their potential. Debaters, coaches and adjudicators are encouraged to attend each year.
The 2015 Summer School will consist of a series of mini-lectures, workshops and discussion sessions. These sessions will be conducted by experienced debaters who will demonstrate the three key aspects of debating – matter, manner and method. The requirements of each of these areas become more extensive as debaters progress through the grades of the Schools Competition and, as such, the Summer School, through its tiered discussion programme, is highly valuable for both novice and seasoned debaters alike.
Coaches are encouraged to attend these seminars, as direction will be given with respect to the criteria used by adjudicators in grading a debater’s performance.
An attendance fee of $20 per student is payable on arrival. The QDU will also be offering a 25% discount for fully paid (pre-purchased) tickets to this event. Details will be available early in the new year. The QDU requests that schools send teachers, coaches or parents as well to supervise their students, entry for adults is free.
Any enquiries with respect to the 2015 QDU Summer Schools should be directed to the QDU Administrator on (07) 3870 0680.
